Is it really over??

Ahh, the end of summer...such a bittersweet time of year.  I am sad that our days of boating and swimming and summer fun are nearing an end, but excited for fall since I can't resist autumn comfort foods and trips to the apple orchard.  Our summer calendar started out pretty light this year, but it didnt take long to fill up!

We spent Labor day at the cabin.  Chloe and Keith left a few days before Annalise and I did.  Annalise took that opportunity to really test my patience and not sleep.  One of the nights she got up at 1 am...for the day...which means I did too.  That was a tough day at work.  She also decided to climb out of the crib again, soooo guess what we are doing???  Yep...time to transition to a bigger bed.  I was hoping she'd wait till she was at least 2!  Anyway, we had a nice time up north.  Keith helped his dad with a few projects and the girls got to spend some QT with Grandma.  :)  We also learned that both girls grew a ton since our last visit over the 4th of July. (we keep track on a post at the cabin).  Annalise grew about an inch!

We ended our Labor Day weekend with a trip to "great Minnesota get together" (aka State Fair).  It was all fun and games until a certain 4 1/2 year decided to dart out of the bathroom into a sea of people as I was helping her sister wash her hands.  SCARIEST 10 MINUTES OF MY LIFE.  Thankfully, a good samaritan saw her run out and started searching for her in one direction while I searched in the other.  The best thing I saw all day (all year for that matter) was this woman carrying Chloe back towards the restrooms to meet me.  Needless to say, we left shortly thereafter...it was nearing naptime and my nerves were frayed.

Chloe started her 2nd year of Farm School this week!  I went to orientation with her on Wednesday and she was an old pro (quite a difference from last year at the beginning).  It melted my heart to see her help a new little girl feed the geese.  I think it's going to be a great year!

  1. It was a short summer here, too! Gosh, both your girls have changed a lot since the March wedding! Kids are a great indicator of the passage of time, aren't they? And of course, it's only they that change, right?
